El Médano is a typical Canarian fishing village where you will find many surfers and tan seekers.
When it comes to beaches, El Médano is the only place on the island where you’ll find natural golden sand created from the erosion of the pale, pumice coastal rocks.
Surfers use one end of the beach while most of the swimming and sunbathing go to the far side, away from thrill seekers, where children can play safely while adults relax in the sun. There are plenty of sunbeds, sunshades and showers, changing facilities and easy access for people with disabilities. These are just some of the reasons why this place has earned the prestigious Blue Flag award.
