Municipalities in Tenerife

Tenerife is composed by 31 counties or municipalities, commonly grouped in three categories:

Metropolitan area: Santa Cruz de Tenerife, La Laguna, El Rosario, Tegueste.

North area: Puerto de la Cruz, Icod de Los Vinos, Tacoronte, El Sauzal, La Matanza de Acentejo, La Victoria de Acentejo, Santa Ursula, La Orotava, Los Realejos, San Juan de la Rambla, La guancha, Garachico, El Tanque, Los Silos, Buenavista del Norte.

South area: Adeje, Arona, Santiago del Teide, Guia de Isora, Vilaflor, San Miguel de Abona, Granadilla de Abona, Arico, Fasnia, Guimar, Arafo, Candelaria.

As a curiosity, Puerto de la Cruz is the smallest county in Tenerife and Canary Islands with just 8.73 Km2. La Orotava is the largest county in Tenerife (207.31 Km2).

We have updated the Maps section with the following maps:

Costa Adeje maps. There are two main areas here, Los Cristianos map and Las Americas map.

Puerto de la Cruz map. This city is the main touristic city in the North of the island. Unless is more quiet compared to the South side of the island, this city is more real if you want to know Tenerife.

Tenerife Google map. (Picture above). From this frame you can zoom and move the map using the drag and drop function of the mouse.

Tenerife city maps

I have updated the Tenerife map page with a few maps of cities in Tenerife. You can click on it to have a full size map if you want to see more any area in detail.

There are also a few maps for the main tourist cities:

Playa de las Americas map, where you can easily locate Torviscas village, San Eugenio village, Aquapark and main hotels and residences around Playa de las Americas.

Cristianos map, where you can easily locate Las Vistas Beach, the port and main hotels and residences) around playa de los Cristianos.

Puerto de la Cruz map, where you can easily locate Lago Martianez (Martianez lakes), the Botanic garden, the Casino Taoro.

If you are considering to go to Tenerife, you would be find useful to have a map of the Island. In the following map shows the main spots, like the Teide vulcano in the center of the Island. If you want to print it, just click on it to have a real size map.

It is also easy to spot the 2 airports available:

- ‘Tenerife Sur’ airport is located at the very South, it is the bigger one and it is the most common used for international flights.

- ‘Tenerife Norte’ airport (also known as ‘Los Rodeos’) is placed close to the capital of the Island, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It mainly covers flight with the other Canary Islands as well as flights to the Spanish mainland, like Madrid, Barcelona or Sevilla.
