In the picture, the old bull-ring in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, converted years ago in an open concert hall, is going to be soon demolished. Only two fronts of the ring will remain, and the center of it will be a public park.

This term, easily heard around by locals, means a very authentic and local restaurant, usually cheap with great home-made food. They have most of the time only one main speciality, although they have enough variety to satisfy any preference: Yes, in the Canaries there are an amazing variety of vegetables, fruit, fish, meat and local desserts too!

The ‘guachinches’ restaurants are likely at the north of the Island. Their origin are commonly associated to the wine production from areas in this northern region: El valle de La Orotava (Orotava Valley), Tacoronte, El Sauzal, La Matanza and Tegueste.

In the torrid zone I have found places where nature is more majestic, more rich in the development of organic forms; but after being all over Orinoco river sides, Peru Mountains and the beautiful valleys in Mexico, I must confess I have not seen such a varied, attractive and harmonious place because of the distribution of the expanse of vegetables and rocks…”
