Playa de las Americas

Playa de Las Americas is one of the most popular tourist areas in Tenerife. Located at the island’s south-western extreme (maps), it offers fabulous sandy beaches and a modern holiday infrastructure. It tends to be very popular particularly with the younger generation.

Most of the beaches tend to be man made and are protected from erosion by breakwaters making the coast effectively a series of small protected coves. In Las Americas, Playa de Troja I-II and Playa de Fañabe have been awarded with blue flags, official symbol of optimal beaches in the European Union.
This area of Tenerife is where you will find most of the available water activities including surfing, jet-skiing, hang-gliding paracending, diving, snorkelling, and windsurfing.

Playa de Las Americas has a very warm weather the whole year as it surrounded and protected by the Teide mountain and boasts an array of world class facilities, with its selection of beautiful, sandy beaches, cafés and bars to its venues offering live entertainment and cabaret everyday.

There are plenty of places to eat with varied cuisines to suit every national palate from fish and chips to excellent local cuisine (see local cuisine restaurants in Adeje).

The Canary Islands, known in ancient times as the “Fortunate Islands”, enjoy a steady subtropical climate with mild temperatures, marine breezes and warm waters.
The waves are constant and good quality (right and left) suitable to any level of performance and await surfers the whole year-round.
The water temperature varies between 18 degrees in winter to 24 ° c in summer. The favorable weather enjoyed by the Island with its 23 degrees in winter and 30 degrees of air temperature in summer, turns it into an excellence destination for surfers the year-round.
