Due to the height of the Teide mountain, most of the main cities are in the coast. The airports of Tenerife (Tenerife North and Tenerife South) are the dark lines in the picture.
When the Atlantic ocean is covered by clouds, the Anaga mountains and the Teide stop them from the North.
